When it came time to enter the Chalmun’s cantina aliens into the modern line, Kenner took the opportunity to give collectors accurate depictions of these characters for the first time. It’s not like we don’t adore Hammerhead in a turquoise blue shell, or Walrus Man with flippers, but the modern line, albeit off to a rough start with the inaugural offerings, was all about screen accurate interpretations of the characters. So when it came time to make creatures, Kenner put their best foot forward to make collectors as happy as possible. And for all intents and purposes they did. Momaw Nadon “Hammerhead” (complete with Expanded Universe name) was an action figure that really blew us all away. From the figure’s imposing stature, to the intricacy of the sculpt especially prevalent in the hands and feet, Momaw Nadon “Hammerhead” was a standout figure in the modern The Power Of The Force “2” line. And we believe it will hold up very well throughout the years. While Kenner didn’t really approach the character and figure all that differently than they did in 1979, they did manage to correct the blunders previously made in the vintage era with faithfulness and artistry to the actual movie “prop” in the modern one.

Momaw Nadon “Hammerhead” comes with the standard six points of articulation. These include all swivel point that can be found in the neck, shoulders, waist and hips. You honestly can’t get a whole bunch of movement out of this action figure, but it really doesn’t matter. As a character that was sedentary in the film, who needs endless articulation in a figure of him? We find out Momaw Nadon “Hammerhead” is a member of the Rebel Alliance in the Expanded Universe (as well as his “real” name), but it is still hard to picture such an alarming character to be someone who believes in fighting for freedom of the galaxy. That’s just a personal observance and you may obviously feel differently about that. Is Nien Nunb all that different really? Perhaps not. But growing up in the late seventies and eighties typically meant that aliens were all typically the “bad guys” of the Star Wars universe. It’s hard to reset that line of thinking thanks to the clarifications of the Expanded Universe. Either way, Momaw Nadon “Hammerhead” is an action figure you definitely want for your collection. He is well made and beautifully painted. And he is absolutely a standout among the rest of the figures in the POTF2 lineup.

You’ll be happy to know that Momaw Nadon “Hammerhead” can sit and stand equally well, so If Hasbro ever creates a Chalmun’s cantina modern playset we have at least one action figure that will fill it out nicely. He comes with an inordinately large double-barreled laser cannon. Remarkably, the action figure can hold it effortlessly. The only issue you may encounter is that it is a heavy gun and may throw off the figure’s center of gravity a bit. But with the proper posing and balancing, Momaw Nadon “Hammerhead” looks pretty darn impressive wielding it. His vest is removable and in all honestly it perplexes us. When you remove it he almost has the same exact clothing underneath of it. While differences exist, it seems redundant to have tooled a separate accessory when it just could have been incorporated into the action figure in once fell swoop. We’re not complaining about it. It just seems like an odd move for Kenner to go through the extra trouble. Either way, it provides a multilayered look for Momaw Nadon “Hammerhead” and who doesn’t love a whole bunch of accessories with their action figures? Ultimately it works. Momaw Nadon “Hammerhead” is a standout figure. We highly recommend him.
