Speeder Bike/Biker Scout - RO - 12-Inch Figures

Biker Scouts have been trained for a variety of missions, including reconnaissance and infiltration. Speeder bikes travel at very high speeds, requiring both skill and fast reflexes.

Well, we were all prepared to write a harsh review on the latest "shampoo bottle" release: the Speeder Biker/Biker Scout two-pack. But after opening up the box and assembling everything in addition to setting it up, we’re just unable to do so. Hasbro has absolutely surprised us with the Speeder Biker/Biker Scout two-pack. Granted, many of the 12-Inch Figures (that collectors dub as “shampoo bottles”) are terrible, but there are times when their efforts shine through, like in this case for example. The size and proportions of the box will completely deceive the human eye. You can’t judge this toy by how it is packaged. Once opened, you’ll see just how many pieces need to be assembled. This is a rough count, but there are over 10 pieces to assemble together here which form a pretty impressive Speeder Bike. All of these parts are nicely arranged in the streamlined packaging and again, it's deceptive to the human eye what this package brings forth. Once the Speeder Bike is assembled, it is only then that you’ll understand just what size box would be needed if Hasbro decided to ship this toy preassembled.

It’s with complete honesty that we express to you that this is a fine toy for a collector. So this means it is more than perfect for a kid. It’s a simple design, but screen accurate. And although the Speeder Bike doesn’t have much colorful deco (like for the buttons and various warning insignias that we have seen in other scales), Hasbro colored the individual pieces good enough to make a representative Speeder Bike in a 12-Inch Figure scale. We’re pretty sure that you’re going to be as impressed with it as we are, but even if you’re not prompted to buy one, we’re confident that you’ll find it has merit at the very least. One thing we would have liked to see worked into the Speeder Bike better is better balancing. Right now, if the Biker Scout isn’t riding it, the front half leans on the “ground”. In other words, the Speeder Bike is front heavy. Obviously this isn’t a huge deal, but we’d love to see a Speeder Bike that sits straight up when there isn’t a rider on it. Other than that, we’re quite thrilled with how it turned out. We’re pretty sure you won’t expect what you see here either. With the Biker Scout figure riding it, it does pass for a fine collectible based on Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi.

The included Biker Scout 12-Inch Figure isn’t terrible either. It comes with the standard seven points of articulation. The addition of swivel wrists are especially poignant here, as the hands need to be in a certain position to hold onto the handlebars of the Speeder Bike. Hasbro ensured to not only include swivel wrists, but they also developed the Biker Scout’s hands to hold onto the handlebars perfectly (in addition to reaching them without any issue). They’ve also tooled his right hand so that it can hold the blaster pistol without issue as well. And as a character primarily colored in black and white, Hasbro really didn't have to do much here to make the character screen accurate. They even added that symbol to his helmet. The rest of the Biker Scout looks about as perfect as you can get, too. You have to assemble its backpack, but that is a two-second process. They even tooled a holster at the Biker Scout’s right ankle and the included blaster pistol actually snaps into it beautifully. There is a whole lot more going right here than wrong. And we’re completely shocked by the quality you get here. It’s a definite purchase for us, and the price is perfect.
