The Empire Strikes Back

Yoda - ESB - Basic

Detailed Visual Analysis

General Analysis

It’s probably accurate that the vintage Kenner Yoda action figure changed the lives of many young Star Wars collectors. After his appearance in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, he became a character that we wanted to aspire to learn from and become. His knowledge was strangely worded but understandable. And his connection to Luke Skywalker made him all the more critical to our young minds. Kenner developed an action figure of Yoda that still holds up well today. In fact, some collectors feel it remains the most excellent version of Yoda available today. They may be right. He comes with soft-goods like the Jawa before him, yet comes loaded with additional accessories that made him an action figure we always wanted to have in our hands. Throughout the years, Hasbro changed Yoda’s skin color, snake color, and gimer stick color, but the approach remained the same. And he will forever continue to be one of Kenner’s most essential action figures of all time. Between the soft-goods cloak, removable belt, the contoured fitted snake around his neck and his walking stick, Kenner exceeded most young collectors’ expectations and set the bar for so many future releases. Size matters now. And Kenner proved that in spades with their incredible Yoda action figure release.
