Detailed Visual Analysis

Klaatu

General Analysis

I absolutely adore Klaatu. When it comes to the many strange-looing aliens in Jabba’s palace that Kenner produced, Klaatu always stood out to me from the crowd. Maybe he didn’t have a clever name like Yak Face or Squid Head, but Klaatu encapsulated the dark, dreary, dubious and dank descriptors that made Jabba’s environment what it was: an unscrupulous gathering of the galaxy’s greatest scum and villainy. Plus, Kenner stepped up to the plate and incorporated plush soft-goods for Klaatu. Kenner weaved his skirt from premium materials that utilized both leathery and woolen qualities – and they fitted them like a glove around the figure's waist. He disappointingly didn’t come with skiff guard blaster, but Kenner gave him a force pike instead. This accessory meant we could use him as a skiff guard too. The detail worked into Klaatu’s sculpt is beyond impressive for 1983. His scaly face and solid black eyes forever capture the depth, precision and expertise, almost as if Kenner’s sculptors developed a miniature masterpiece. Klaatu was Kenner could employ decades ago. And he was always a fixture in my various Jabba The Hutt dioramas I sent up in my childhood bedroom. Klaatu added so much joy to my Star Wars collection. I never felt he got the notoriety he deserved. And I still adore him today. THE VINTAGE COLLECTION brought us the one and only modern version to the classic Kenner figure. And it is automatically the greatest modern version of Klaatu Hasbro will ever produce. Hasbro named him Wooof and made the ultimate and definitive version of the character first time out of the gate. There will never be a need for another one ever again in the history of Star Wars action figure making.
