Warok

General Analysis

An Ewok warrior who helps the REBELS overcome the deadly SCOUT WALKERS.

I guess Warok’s name is an anagram of “warrior” and “Ewok.” Warok is my third favorite Ewok after Wicket W. Warrick and Paploo. I think he looks fantastic. It feels like an oxymoron to call an Ewok with a given name generic, but Warok has an inexplicable generic feel to him. I utilized him in so many play scenarios and it’s just one of the reasons why I am fond of him. I am impressed that the figure looks like the Ewok featured on the Kenner card back image very much. Sure, the coloring is off, but that is a trend with many other Kenner Star Wars action figures before this release. And I can easily let that go because the figure brings me joy. From the pitched head to the incredible likeness, Kenner did a great job of capturing the look and feel of this Ewok warrior. I also love that he is another archer in the Ewok tribe. But for me, Warok looks better holding his bow and quiver than Lumat and has a much more natural interaction with those accessories. It wasn't until many years after the release of this 1985 action figure that I learned he was the one of the Ewoks flying a combat glider during the Battle of Endor, dropping large rocks/small boulders on the Imperial AT-STs wreaking havoc on the Ewok’s home world. It made me appreciate him more. As a collectible, Warok’s coin may be the most common of all. For reasons seemingly unknown, Kenner added the Warok coin to other figures like the AT-AT Driver and Nikto. I don’t think it’s ever been clearly explained why this was the case. Ultimately, I truly love this Ewok action figure and I think he will always be special to me. Hasbro gave us a relatively excellent modern update to Warok in the 2009 LEGACY COLLECTION BATTLE FOR ENDOR Battle Packs set. It's a great modern action figure update, and I don’t think Hasbro needs to waste a slot developing a new sculpt and releasing the character again.
