Tusken Raiders are a brutal clan of desert bandits who are as vicious as the desolate environment they inhabit: the wastelands of Tatooine. Also known as Sand People, these fearsome nomads usually travel in clans, realizing there is strength in numbers.

The Raiders have adapted particularly well to their harsh desert climate, which is most evident in their appearance - all Tusken Raiders cover their bodies with cloth wrappings to shield themselves from the rays of Tatooine's twin suns. The wrappings remain on almost all the time, only mates see each other's faces. Although they prefer using primitive technology, they have incorporated some high-tech equipment into their outfits. This equipment includes eye filters that help them see through violent wind storms, and a special breathing device that filters sand particles and provides moisture while they breathe.

Tusken Raiders have been known to use blaster weapons, but would rather battle with their signature gaderffi sticks. They share a familiar bond with banthas, the woolly beasts that also inhabit the desert. Raiders use the banthas for transportation and ride them in single files to cleverly disguise their numbers from enemies.

Authentically styles straight from Star Wars, this Tusken Raider comes prepared to attack with a spiked gaderffi stick. The figure is outfitted with its trademark robe and wrappings, and also features, bandolier and gloves. This special edition 12" figure, available for the first time ever, is destined to become a classic collectible.

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!

The second wave of Collector Series line took it to new dimensions. Not only did Kenner/Hasbro have the opportunity to produce canceled figures that never made it out of the vintage Kenner era, but they also were given a chance to produce 12 Inch Figures of characters they never attempted. Tusken Raider was the first figure in the 12 Inch Figures line that never was released or scheduled for release in the classic Kenner line. And thankfully for collectors, it turned out lovely. Designed with an excellent portrait and burlap-like soft-goods for the robes, Kenner/Hasbro put together a fantastic version of the original Star Wars character for the Collector Series sub-line of 12 Inch Figures. The Tusken Raider comes with a separately-sculpted (and removable) bandolier in addition to boots. Kenner/Hasbro also added pants to complete the Tusken Raider’s outfit. Interestingly, Hasbro also tooled a separate breathing apparatus that attaches around the figure’s neck and fastens in the rear. Chewbacca was the fourth figure planned for the same wave as the Tusken Raider, but Kenner/Hasbro had to cancel Chewbacca and push him out a few waves because of the difficulties involved getting him to a finalized status. To fill this “missing” slot in the wave, Hasbro decided to produce two versions of the Tusken Raider. Version “A” comes with a gaderffi stick and Version “B” comes with an E-11 blaster and macrobinoculars. It was a clever way to make lemonade out of lemons, and it went over well with collectors. Kenner/Hasbro gave the Tusken Raider a beautiful final wash. From the head sculpt to the soft-goods robe to the boots, the Tusken Raider comes with a beautiful “lived-in” appearance as if he just arrived from Tatooine into your collection.
