Wedge Antilles

A veteran of three major battles, Wedge Antilles proved himself as both an accomplished pilot and a loyal friend. In the Battle of Yavin, Wedge - or Red Two, his Red Squadron call sign - assisted Luke Skywalker in his final run on the Death Star, until a hit from Darth Vader disabled his X-wing. When Imperial forces invaded the newly founded Rebel base on Hoth, Wedge continued his aid to the Alliance by successfully destroying an AT-AT and postponing Rebel defeat long enough to continue the evacuation. Wedge's heroism also played a major role in the final Battle of Endor, in which the Rebel Alliance decisively defeated both the Emperor and the second Death Star. It was Wedge and Lando Calrissian who entered the battle station's central reactor core and delivered the torpedoes which destroyed the Death Star.

Biggs Darklighter

Luke Skywalker's boyhood friend from Tatooine, Biggs Darklighter was also a distinguished member of Red Squadron and fought alongside Luke and Wede as Red Three in the Battle of Yavin. Biggs was a brilliant pilot and hero. Moments before the assault in the first Death Star, Biggs and Luke met up again as X-wing pilots and members of the Rebel Alliance. Just after Wedge barely escaped from the battle, Darth Vader destroyed Bigss' X-wing. His death left Luke completely alone in his assault on the Death Star. Despite the loss of Biggs, Luke managed to continue his X-wing run down the Death Star trench and destroy the space station.

Authentically styled from Star Wars, Wedge Antilles and Biggs Darklighter are prepared for heroic X-wing battles in their Rebel flight gear. Each figure is outfitted in the familiar orange flight suit, complete with helmet, visor, harness, galaxy map and blaster. This special edition, 12 " figure collection set is now available for the first time ever and is destined to become a classic collectible.

Retailer FAO Schwarz stepped up to the plate multiples times to take on Kenner/Hasbro’s 12 Inch Figure exclusives. Their first (Jedi Luke Skywalker & Bib Fortuna) garnered an ordinate amount of collector interest, and greatly exceeded their expectations with the Collector Series/Action Collection line. Another set released mid-1998 included Wedge Antilles & Biggs Darklighter (In Rebel Pilot Gear). The set was another fan-favorite release, but the suggested MSRP, $69.99, priced out more than a few collectors. Based on 1997’s POTF2 [R/G] Luke Skywalker (In X-wing Gear), Kenner/Hasbro tooled two new portraits and added gloved hands. They then repainted the figure so that the appropriate helmets could be paired with them. There are also tweaks to the colors of the flight suit and the hardware on the costumes. Each figure comes with a removable helmet and DL-44 blaster pistol. The Wedge Antilles & Biggs Darklighter (In Rebel Pilot Gear) is a nice addition to the Action Collection line. And if you’re a fan of A New Hope, this set allows you to add two more pilots from the Battle of Yavin.
