"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...."

The adventure continues with this exciting introduction of exclusive figures from the Star Wars trilogy! Each figure is authentically styled with incredible detail and is fully poseable.

COLLECT THEM ALL!

An Imperial Royal Guard departs from a transport in preparation for the Emperor's arrival on the newly constructed Death Star.

The Emperor, enraged that Luke Skywalker will not turn to the dark side, prepares to destroy him.

By the time 1998 rolled around, Hasbro upgraded The Power Of The Force “2” line with a small logo on all new products that read “The Kenner Collection.” The revitalized line featured a cast of characters from across the Original Trilogy with a focus on new concepts and never-before-made action figures and vehicles that were long-awaited by Star Wars collectors. The Action Collection line also went into hyperdrive. Hasbro produced incredible retailer exclusives of 12 Inch Figures that collectors always wanted to see realized in this scale too. TARGET picked up the Emperor Palpatine (Electronic)/Royal Guard two-pack. Taking the Emperor Palpatine figure from a few months earlier, they added electronics so the figure could quote the unforgettable lines spoken from Return Of The Jedi. To perfect the set, Hasbro also added a Royal Guard, a character that is one of the most popular from the Original Trilogy. What’s fascinating is that Hasbro managed to reuse the Emperor Palpatine tooling to create the Royal Guard. All that’s new with the Royal Guard is the helmet and soft-goods materials (and the subsequent repainting of parts). Although imperfect, both Emperor Palpatine and Royal Guard look excellent. They each possess a wonderful likeness to the on-screen characters, and the materials use to fabricate their outfits have incredible screen-accuracy. Released as a TARGET exclusive, the set has an MSRP of $44.99 which is a tad high for two of these figures, but it seems that most exclusives always cost more.
