During the Clone Wars, a division of the 501st Clone Troopers pledged their loyalty to Ahsoka Tano, demonstrating this with their repainted helmets.

You have to wonder what makes Hasbro choose certain characters as retailer exclusives. When it comes to The Clone Wars, we strongly feel like they should be mainstream releases. Instead, Hasbro relegated two intriguing, one army-building, and one main character (Ahsoka Tano) as exclusives to Walmart. And none of that makes sense to use from a collector or business standpoint. The 332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper character is popular. A mix of the 501st Legion with bright orange helmet deco that resembles Ahsoka Tano’s face, the squad of clones look odd, yet enthralling as well and are believable servants to the young Jedi Knight. The Clone Trooper (Kamino) 6” figure was controversial for some collectors. Convincingly, the 332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper has an animated look and feel to it, which works well with this tooling. Despite some collector complaints, the all-new “clone trooper” tooling is something we’ve grown quite fond of now. We’re looking forward to more uniformity within the line as we advance into the future. The previous “phase I” Clone Trooper sculpting overstayed its welcome, and the fresh new approach taken with this figure shows that Hasbro is not afraid to try new things in the line, even if it means going against their first instinct. Officially called the 332nd Company, we soon find out that they are indeed a facet of a famous and more outstanding battalion of clones. The 332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper is a fantastic figure suggestion for The Black Series 6” line, but we’d like to reiterate that it shouldn’t be exclusive to Walmart. This character needs broader distribution.

332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper came to be when she returned to the Jedi order after walking away about the time the Grand Army of the Republic invaded Mandalore. And they served under Clone Captain Rex and Clone Captain Vaughn. Coincidentally, after defeating Darth Maul and the Shadow Collective, Darth Sidious enacted Order 66, and the 332nd Company unsuccessfully turned on Ahsoka Tano. All of Ahsoka’s clones were killed when the ship they were on crashed. She no longer needed to fear for her safety. The 332nd Company was an infantry company of clone troopers within the 501st Legion of the Grand Army of the Republic, and Hasbro equipped them as we see in The Clone Wars series. They come with Phase II Clone Trooper armor, including the blue color flashes of the 501st Legion. The helmets are red-orange and in a stylized version of Ahsoka Tano’s facial markings and skin tone, and they often utilize DC-15 blasters and jetpacks. Hasbro ensured that they included most of the vital armory needed to defeat their foes in battle. Visually speaking, the 332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper figure is a delight to have in The Black Series 6” line. We wish Hasbro made the character in The Vintage Collection because that’s where most of The Clone Wars characters currently reside. Armored figures tend to look chunky and clunky. But Hasbro engineered near-miraculous features into this character’s articulation. We can’t wait to see what clones they plan to release using this template moving forward. It would have been wonderful if Hasbro decided to include an interchangeable 501st Legion bucket to sweeten the deal here.

332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper is a rework of the Clone Trooper (Kamino) figure, which was an all-new figure at its release. As you know, it’s quite different than the 2014’s TBS [P1] Clone Trooper (#14) figure. Correctly scaled to fit the figure’s body, the new helmet shows us that Hasbro paid close attention to what they screwed up on older models of the Phase II Clone Trooper. Interestingly, there is an unpainted “clone head” underneath the helmet. Hasbro has plans to make the most of this sculpt with future releases. But the addition of a ball-socket head with a reverse ball-socket neck gives the 332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper figure an impressive range of movement just in the head. New to the Phase II Clone Trooper tooling, the incorporation of “butterfly” sliding joints incorporated with ball-jointed shoulders gives the figure optimal movement. The shoulders don’t roll back as far as we’d hoped, but you do get additional movement thanks to the complex articulation in the shoulders. The angle you can pose the arms at the elbows is also mind-blowing. Hasbro developed ball-jointed articulation that attains sharp angles we’ve never seen possible until now. We don’t think we’re exaggerating when we say that the elbows achieve 45 degrees. The knee armor is attached to the thigh armor, but the knee is armor is detached from the ball-jointed knees. This articulation approach allows you to spin the knee as you need for action poses, while the knee armor plating stays in place to help with the figure’s aesthetics. Exclusive to Walmart, 332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper retails for $24.99 and will likely be impossible to locate.
