The New Republic used these security droids for protection and combat, including aboard high-security corectional transports like the one The Mandalorian boarded in an effort to rescue the Prisoner Qin.

The New Republic Security Droid, or N5 sentry droid, was a type of security droid used by the New Republic Correctional Corps. Used often on New Republic Correctional Transports, and a bunch of them got destroyed by Din Djarin. Now, the character has life in The Black Series 6-inch line, and to our surprise, the figure is all-new despite looking like it has parts recycled from K-2SO. The character has a strong The Clone Wars feel and look to it. Do you recall the Commando Droids? The New Republic Security Droid feels like a hybrid of the Commando Droid from The Clone Wars and K-2SO from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The New Republic Security Droid is another excellent design for The Black Series 6-inch action figure. Hasbro paid close attention to the character’s likeness from The Mandalorian Disney+ series. We imagine collectors of 6-inch Star Wars action figures will be eager to add this character to their collections. Let’s take a close look at the action figure.

New Republic Security Droid comes with a wealth of articulation. Hasbro worked in a significant amount of ball-socket, ball-jointed, and hinge-jointed articulation to recreate faithful functionality of movement and display as needed. The action figure copies many of the on-screen character’s traits exceptionally well. Aside from the boxy head and chest, the character is immediately reminiscent of K-2SO, especially in the extremities. And this is why Hasbro employed hinge-jointed elbow, knees, and ankles, among other parts – to imitate that same kind of movement. The action figure is well-designed like most other figures in The Black Series 6-inch lineup. Thanks to its astonishing articulation system, it looks incredible in static or action-oriented poses. You can also have the droid kneel or recreate widespread poses. It appears your options are endless regarding the New Republic Security Droid, and you’re probably going to want to buy a handful to recreate the scenes from The Mandalorian.

Where the New Republic Security Droid action figure falls short is its accessories, but we don’t think this has anything to do with finding fault with Hasbro. It’s just that the character doesn’t have much gear from the start. But we can point the blame to Hasbro on the laziness of the accessory. We could be off with our assessment here, but Hasbro included the DH-17 blaster, the same weapon as what they give a RebeI Fleet Trooper characters, for the New Republic Security Droid. In the stills, it looks like these droids use a different weapon altogether. Hasbro should have revised the weapon they included with this figure if that’s the case. Again, we might be incorrect about this, but we’re judging from still images. Despite this, the New Republic Security Droid is another highlight in The Black Series 6-inch line. It may not be a prominent character or a character that tops your wish list, but it’s an excellent addition to the 6-inch line nonetheless. Here’s hoping Hasbro makes a few other related characters to interact with this character soon.
