But the infinite ways it’s often applied seem just as relevant as the next. As you might guess, it applies to Star Wars collecting too. And specifically, we feel it applies strongly to The Black Series Credit Collection subline. Look, no collector is excited about expensive Star Wars repaints at this stage of the game. Figures like this have sadly taken over any newness the line once frequently brought the collecting community. But with all that considered, The Black Series Credit Collection is an artsy collection of figures full of color, novelty, and exclusivity. Because of these traits, the line does interest a smaller facet of the collecting community. The Walmart exclusive Boba Fett figure takes 2022’s TBS [P4] Boba Fett (Tython) (TM16) figure, repaints it in brighter colors, and includes an exclusive New Republic Credit to help sweeten the deal. And then the Kenner-esque-inspired packaging ties everything together. But even if you can get past whatever saving grace that these figures have, one thing preventing its complete success is the ridiculous MSRP. These repainted versions cost more than the original releases in most cases. What’s up with that nonsense? And with the overcharge, most collectors won’t even bother themselves with attempting to appreciate an artistic take on their favorite Star Wars characters.
