Cal Kestis - TBS [P4] - Six Inch Figures (GG17)

One of the last surviving members of the Jedi order, Cal Kestis and his valiant droid companion BD-1 openly resist the growing power and domination of the evil Galactic Empire.

There are several iterations of Cal Kestis in the Star Wars universe, and Hasbro recently dropped the best version of the character in both The Vintage Collection and The Black Series toy lines. The TVC figure arrived first, but now the 6-inch version is officially “out,” and Hasbro did an admirable job on it. Cal Kestis comes with the same accessories as its 3.75-inch counterpart, but with the advent of their latest technology, crafted a more detailed action figure that makes us wish that Hasbro would apply the same caliber of deco to the figures part of The Vintage Collection legacy lineup. The TVC figures are better than ever, but Hasbro mastered Photo Real deco in the 6-inch line, and we’d love to see a similar effort applied to the 3.75-inch basic figure line. We’re getting there, only missing the mark by a small margin. The Cal Kestis action figure comes with the trusty BD-1 droid. Frankly, it’s adorable and a necessary inclusion here. It has an articulated head and legs, and Cal can hold it as needed. The figure also comes with a hilt, a detachable blue blade, and a blaster pistol you can house in the holster as required. The design of this action figure is impressive, and we’re happy to add it to our collections. We have no interest in the Jedi Survivor video game, but our growing collections always welcome different types of Jedi. The head sculpt is a standout feature on Cal Kestis. We feel Hasbro did a remarkable job on it, and it complements the generally excellent body that accompanies it. It’s not common to receive a Gaming Greats character in the basic 6-inch figure assortment, but this is the second or third time for Cal Kestis. It may be more commonplace as the line continues. Honestly, Cal Kestis is a highlight of the wave, and you should probably consider it because it’s an excellent addition to the lineup.
