It’s unconscionable how long Hasbro made collectors of The Vintage Collection wait to add Count Dooku to the lineup. Since its inception in 2010, Count Dooku topped collectors’ wish lists everywhere. We are 14 years past that time, and Hasbro has finally added the character to the beloved collection. Like any figure yet to be produced for The Vintage Collection, the longer we wait, the better the action figure is. This phenomenon is true for Count Dooku. Throughout the years, Hasbro produced many excellent versions of Count Dooku. You’ll find these examples throughout the Revenge Of The Sith and Legacy Collection lineups, but each fell short of meeting definitive status. Many of us were content to see Hasbro re-release one of the updated Count Dooku action figures from the mid-2000s in The Vintage Collection. But looking back, we’re fortunate that it never came to pass. For 2024, Hasbro tooled an all-new version with the latest technology, premium features, and articulation. Unless you’re miserable, you should fall in love with The Vintage Collection Count Dooku action figure. It’s a gift to collectors, and we’re enjoying seeing it released side-by-side with the new Phase I Clone Trooper action figure. We’re fortunate to see the Prequel Trilogy again get love in the Hasbro Star Wars brand.

As mentioned, Count Dooku is an all-new figure. We commend Hasbro for treating this character right in the action figure line. We waited too long for it not to be perfect, and Hasbro came as close to perfection as possible with Count Dooku. It has premium articulation. It has an interchangeable right hand with Force lightning attached. And for the first time in the 3.75-inch action figure line, we have a fully lit lightsaber and hilt of Dooku’s unique weapon. After so many years, it’s lovely to have these features added to the action figure. Lastly, Count Dooku comes with a removable soft-goods cape. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a double-layered or lined cape. Count Dooku’s cape is distinct, and Hasbro decided to give us a single-layered cape that is dark brown on the outside and tan on the inside. It functions well regardless, but we wish that in a premium collector-focused line like The Vintage Collection, Hasbro went “all out” and did not prohibit the luxe fabrics from entering the conversation here. Despite this disappointment, there is too much good with Count Dooku to discount. The portrait is gorgeous, and the action figure’s articulation is impressive. We managed to pose Count Dooku in various positions, and the action figure looks excellent no matter the pose.

What we’re most disappointed with is Count Dooku’s character photo. We don’t know what is happening with Hasbro’s art department, but whatever team designs the packaging should be fired. It’s almost as if a novice did a basic Google search and then found the first image of the character needed and slapped it onto the cardstock. Not only is the image too dark, but it’s also off-center because they wanted to capture some of the Force lightning in the shot. But when characters’ bodies get dramatically shifted to fit in a feature instead (like Force lightning), it detracts from the image’s quality and the packaging. Hasbro could have chosen so many other photos of Count Dooku instead, and they would have befitted the packaging beautifully. So, why did they take the cheapest route possible here? It’s very demeaning to the line and aggravating to collectors. However, you won’t care about such trivial things if you’re an opener. Instead, you’ll be impressed with the magnificence this action figure brings to The Vintage Collection. While we’d like to scream at Hasbro for making us wait an ungodly amount of time for a collector-focused version of Count Dooku, we must concede that this wait has been worth it. We are so enthralled and enamored of Count Dooku, and we’re sure the figure will have the same effect on you.
