The Blizzard
Hasbro gave out an exclusive gold titanium TIE fighter. Gentle Giant gave us a cool 'Vader in Flames' Bust-up. But, the grand daddy of all exclusives at toy fair this year was handed out by mother nature in the form of a record-setting blizzard! The snow started as we left the Lego after hours party, around 7:30 PM on Saturday. By morning we had more than 15 inches in South New Jersey. We set out for New York for the second day of our Toy Fair coverage at about 7 AM, but the strong winds and heavy snowfall turned us back after only a few miles. We weren't sure if we were going to be able to make it into the city. But, at about 10 AM the snow slowed down enough and we headed out again. This time, we made it back to New York with minimal problems. By the time we got back into the city the snow was still falling very hard. With taxis few and far between, we parked and trudged through block after block of snow and made all of our appointments. Here are some pictures of our trek through the Toy Fair blizzard of 2006!
The Javits Convention Center
Believe it or not, Star Wars was not the only thing showing at Toy Fair! Here are a few pictures so you can get an idea of just how big this thing is! Each booth was full of colors, and there were hundreds of companies showing off their latest and greatest for '06, making this a true marketing extravaganza! This small photo gallery should give you a taste of how cool it is just to simply walk through the aisles and look at all the cool stuff!
