LEGO held a presentation for collector media on the first morning of Toy Fair before the convention floor opened. The hall had an eerie stillness to it as the exhibitor booths lay prepared for the day's exhibit, but all were still resting as Toy Fair was just coming to life.

The LEGO representatives made a point to note that 2009 is the 10th Anniversary of LEGO's STAR WARS line, and as befitting such an anniversary they promise to have something notable in the works. Like what?

ANNIVERSARY PRODUCTS
To commemorate the line's milestone, three sets inspired by the classic trilogy feature special edition anniversary packaging. In January, Darth Vader's TIE Fighter (MSRP $29.99) builds the Sith Lord's iconic personal starfighter, with stylized silver details, opening cockpit and flick-firing action. In August, builders relive the excitement of the Battle of Hoth with Echo Base(MSRP $29.99), featuring the first-ever LEGO taun taun. The Battle of Endor (MSRP $99.99), complete with 12 minifigures, re-creates the iconic moment where the Rebels assault the secret Imperial bunker with help from the Ewoks.

Additionally, LEGO Group and Toys "R" Us invited fans to choose their favorite of three iconic scenes from the saga to be created for the first time in LEGO form to celebrate the anniversary. The winning model, The Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, received more than 50 percent of the 10,000 votes cast, and will be available in August only at Toys "R" Us stores, LEGO stores and the shop at www.LEGO.com

A YEAR-LONG CELEBRATION
Starting in January, 10,000 exclusive, never-before-released chrome Darth Vader minifigures were randomly inserted to 2009 novelty products.

The company will mark the anniversary in other exciting ways. Partners are on board for several promotions, events, online activities and TV events to engage consumers - young and young at heart - in celebrating throughout the year. Information will be posted to http://starwars.lego.com.

CLONE WARS
Aside from the 10th anniversary celebration, the overriding theme for the day and for that matter 2009 appears to be CLONE WARS, CLONE WARS, CLONE WARS! The white and blue telltale packaging of the Clone Wars was apparent throughout the Star Wars section of LEGO's Toy Fair exhibit.

The centerpiece of the Clone Wars line is LEGO set #10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker. This is the LAAT/c carrier dropship that deploys Republic ground vehicles on the battlefield. And the AT-OT is the open troop carrier vehicle that ferries Clone Trooper infantry to the battle. The LAAT/c mates with the AT-OT to deploy it on the battlefield. This set will be available on March 30, 2009. It includes a total of 1,758 pieces. MSRP in the US is $249.99. But what about the features?
