While there isn’t widespread confirmation on this, we’ve learned from both Wikipedia and Rebelscum that actor Jeremy Bulloch who played the iconic character of Boba Fett died. 2020 cannot be over soon enough! We wish Jeremy’s family love and prayers. He was one of the nicest Star Wars actors we’ve ever known.
UPDATE: Apparently Daniel Logan broke the news on this earlier today on Instagram. TMZ has the full story. And major media outlets are now confirming and posting the story. Mr. Bulloch passed away from complications of Parkinson’s disease. “Jeremy also made a couple of cameos without his Boba Fett mask – playing Lieutenant Sheckil in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and Captain Jeremoch Colton in ‘Revenge of the Sith.”

A short while ago it was revealed that Diamond Select Toys is now making super articulated 7 inch Star Wars action figures, in direct competition to Hasbro. The first figure that was revealed (it was leaked, actually) was a Return of the Jedi Boba Fett figure. Not much else was known at the time. But now both Boba Fett and a brand new Darth Maul Diamond Select Toys action figure are available on the shopDisney website for $24.99 each. Darth Maul will tell us how good or bad the headsculpts and paint apps are. So how does the Diamond Select Darth Maul compare and how does Boba look outside the blister pack? Click through for a closer look!

Yesterday, after expressing personal joy and elation for the announced all-new Return Of The Jedi Boba Fett, I posted an article suggesting Hasbro relook at the packaging to make it more authentic to the original Kenner card back. A few readers took the article, which focused on encouraging Hasbro to make the artwork better, out of context, and interpreted it as complaining. So, in return, they complained about “perceived” complaining. If they read the article, they’d see the relevance of it. Thankfully, someone did. JTA reader and friend Binary_Son, famous for creating our “Back The Barge” campaign posters, whipped up how he sees the Return Of The Jedi Boba Fett card art in minutes. And it’s already worlds better than Hasbro’s version shown yesterday. You can see how important it is NOT to zoom in on Boba Fett and correct the “pill” and “Backer” colors. And let’s not forget about the unobstructed sawed-off blaster rifle or the darker blue sky. All of these elements are crucial. In his rough example, the lower body would still need some work, but hopefully, you’ll catch the drift of what Hasbro should be giving us. Thanks, Binary_Son!

OK, Hasbro. Firstly, thank you for doing right by collectors of The Vintage Collection. Today’s announcement was LONG OVERDUE, but at least it’s here now. Secondly, since you’ve confirmed this figure’s release, it’s now time to talk about that card back. You should have time to remedy the multiple issues that plague it and get it to your art department to fix it. Click through for more.

Now this is a very weird find. A photo of a super articulated Return of the Jedi Boba Fett action figure made by Diamond Select Toys has appeared online. The figure was found at a Disney Park / Hotel. It is not a fake as far as I can tell. The figure seems to be in the 6 inch / 7 inch scale (difficult to tell without a reference for size, but DST usually makes 7 inch figures), comes with two extra hands and some effects pieces for the blaster and jetpack. 5POA is never OK, but at least Hasbro did something good with the Celebrate The Force multipacks, a parting gift for collectors as they close the tooling archives on these figures forever. The Bounty Hunters set includes a new take on R5-P8 that uses the same tooling as a The Vntage Collection figure. This character first saw release in Disney’s Droid Factory line. The rest of this multipack is a waster Are you buying these sets for your collection? (more….)
