A short while ago it was revealed that Diamond Select Toys is now making super articulated 7 inch Star Wars action figures, in direct competition to Hasbro. The first figure that was revealed (it was leaked, actually) was a Return of the Jedi Boba Fett figure. Not much else was known at the time. But now both Boba Fett and a brand new Darth Maul Diamond Select Toys action figure are available on the shopDisney website for $24.99 each. Darth Maul will tell us how good or bad the headsculpts and paint apps are. So how does the Diamond Select Darth Maul compare and how does Boba look outside the blister pack? If you still need the 2020 TVC Darth Maul (VC86) version, it’s currently in stock on Amazon.com for $12.99.
As of this post, The Vintage Collection Darth Maul (VC86) figure ranks as the 22nd most-visited review in our RDRs database. Now, it’s time to revisit the figure and get that rank higher since Hasbro re-released the figure in 2020 with significant changes. Another wise repack in The Vintage Collection “2.0” lineup, Darth Maul now comes with Photo Real deco, a flatter matte paint job, and significantly revised packaging (both card art and figure placement). We took the time to break it all down for you by producing an all-new 120-image gallery complete with both versions (2012 and 2020) featured, comparison shots, dioramas, and a breakdown of what separates the two releases in the Collector Notes. Check out this excellently updated figure in our RDRs now! There’s more difference here than you may realize.

I had a pretty good week when it comes to collecting. I took a trip an hour south to Tucson, AZ, and went to a wonderful swap meet. Some of my favorite vendors had vamoosed, unfortunately, but there were still a couple toy vendors with decent Star Wars merchandise. I also watched A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, which marks the first time my son has gotten to watch the original trilogy (although he’s 2 so he ran around for a lot of it and went to be 3/4ths of the way through each movie, but boy did he like R2-D2!). In any case, click here to see a few photos of this week’s collecting finds!
Our friends at StarWarsFiguren.com have posted images from the convention in Germany. So far, it looks like just 6″ and 5″ figures were revealed. Be sure to check out the Boba Fett, Darth Maul, Sith Jet Trooper and Yoda Galaxy Of Adventures figures (if they ever make it to retail).

If you ever wanted to own a version of Darth Maul with robotic legs, now is your chance. Hot Toys just announced an all new Darth Maul figure as he appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Darth Maul is an all new figure, has posable eyes, his accessories include an LED lightsaber, a lightsaber blade with motion blur effect, his seat from the movie, the usual hands and there will also be (small) hologram versions of both Darth Maul and Qi’Ra. Maul has a tentative release date of Q4 2019 / Q1 2020. He should go on pre-order very soon. If you want to know more details and see many more photos, showing off the figure in various action poses, please go to the official Hot Toys website!
