Wow. Not only is the new The Vintage Collection Rogue One Darth Vader awesome, but it’s also built from many existing parts. It’s about 75% old and 25% new. We provided comparison pictures of this new figure against all existing TVC Darth Vader basic action figures so you can see how far Hasbro has come with technology and kit-bashing parts. Hey, did you notice that VC number too? And what about those molded lower robes? (more….)
As if 2020 couldn’t get worse, we lost a man who played one of the greatest villains in a movie franchise ever. David Prowse died on November 28th following a short illness. His character of Darth Vader will be remembered forever. Please feel free to leave your thoughts on how this actor impacted your life playing the incomparable Darth Vader character. Fox News has the details on this sad news.

You saw our The Pathway To The Vintage Collection Special Report published on August 6th. Now let’s revisit the figures that set The Vintage Collection in motion. Let’s continue moving ahead with 2004’s VOTC Darth Vader figure in our newly updated review, complete with new text and photos and Visual Guide.
Frustrated collectors often joke about how many repeat action figures we’re getting in The Vintage Collection. It’s become a chronic issue, that many are relabeling the second coming of The Vintage Collection as “The Repack Collection.” Yet, there is a great divide in opinion on how beneficial these repacks are. Getting decade-old action figures updated with Photo Real is a huge benefit in my eyes. And many of the action figures Hasbro chooses to re-release are classics, and I feel deserve another stab at retail. (more….)
In 1984, the new packaging design for Star Wars figures was introduced for the European market. A cost containment initiative, the new packaging sported three languages of the Return Of The Jedi logo for a “one size fits all” approach. Although a “three-logo” design was created for The Power Of The Force line (as evidenced on some ‘boxed’ toys), it wasn’t carried over to the basic figure line’s card design. They continued to use the three Return Of The Jedi logos instead. Although the word “Trilogo” is found nowhere on the packaging, the term is universally adopted by all Star Wars collectors to describe this line of figures.
Today we revisit Darth Vader. Darth Vader’s Trilogo card art doesn’t vary much from the original card image. It’s interesting, however, that they didn’t use the running change Death Star II Darth Vader image instead. The packaging also comes with the name Darth Vader (Dark Vador) printed on the name “pill.” The review’s Collector Notes are updated with this information. See the full card art and additional notes by revisiting 1978’s STAR WARS Darth Vader figure HERE.

Where the heck is the pre-order for The Vintage Collection Cave Of Evil Special Action Figure Set? Patrick Schneider from Hasbro promised us that all of the items revealed at NYCC would be available for pre-order the following Monday. From where I stand, it seems this is the only one outstanding. And of course, it’s the one I want the most. Maybe Hasbro is getting lambasted for trying to re-release that monstrosity-of-a-disaster-wrapped-in-a-debacle, the Luke Skywalker figure, again. But I am not sure about that.
