As much as many of us like to criticize eBay for all of the “evil” people who sell on there, it has proven to be a great gauge for what Star Wars items go for on the aftermarket. In a very short moment of downtime, I curiously searched for three Star Wars characters (their respective action figures) across three definitive periods of collecting eras. I tried to pick characters of equal prominence but gave the Sequel Trilogy an advantage with a more popular “B” character. First I searched for the classic vintage Kenner Walrus Man (of which there are hundreds). Then I jumped to our modern era of Sequel Trilogy collecting and decided to choose Maz Kanata randomly. Once again, there are hundreds of her available as well (hundreds of each scale). Then I jumped to a random point in time during the Golden Age of Collecting and chose The Vintage Collection’s Wooof action figure. There are less than a dozen. (more….)

Holy cow. The Gamorrean Guard has finally gotten out in China. Look at this thing. It’s amazing. It will be one of the most sought-after exclusives ever made. I hope Hasbro has a ton in production! Check it out on eBay! Special thanks to Paul B. for the alert!

It’s remarkable how everyone who backed Jabba’s Sail Barge is preparing for its release next February by clearing out eBay. JTA reader Mike R. brought to our attention two figures in particular that have us in awe. 2004’s Star Wars “Saga” [Phase III] J’Quille and Tanus Spijek have been selling like mad on eBay recently. AT any given time you could about two dozen of them for less than $10-$15 each, maybe less. However, they’ve recently sold so strongly that it’s nearly impossible to find any active auctions for them on eBay. If you can locate them, they’re going for a pretty penny. If you recall, we created an itemized list of ROTJ characters while suggesting which one were Sail Barge-worthy, much like how Elaine determines which of her men are sponge-worthy. Well, some readers have taken notice. (You should check out those links again. The increase in prices is astounding.) Don’t wait too long to grab the figures you need to populate this first HasLab offering!

OK, so it’s “clear” Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) is getting fully backed. So what else can we talk about now? I have an idea. Now that 5000+ of us will have a stunning new vehicle for our collection, how about getting on Hasbro’s case to reissue/redo the Sarlacc pit they made years about in 2008’s TLC Battle At The Sarlacc Pit TARGET exclusive Battle Packs release? They could NEVER do a straight repack of it (too many things have been updated since its release), but we’re going to need something to throw Jabba’s prisoners in next! So, how about it, Hasbro? If you have done your part to #backthebarge, the staff at JTA profusely thanks you. For the first time, we sense that this small miracle is going to happen. This is our modern Sears Cantina with rare Blue Snaggletooth. I wouldn’t want to have any fear of missing out on this great item. In fact, people that never considered buying a 3.75″ action figure are backing them like crazy. We remain cautiously optimistic, but emotionally we’re also bordering on excited. Now that Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) is significantly closer to becoming a reality, we thought we’d provide something to you that many have been requesting in email correspondence to us. In case you haven’t heard, The Black Series [Star Wars 40] wave 1 is getting cancelled on collectors left and right. Hasbro has officially put this wave out of production. What we don’t know for sure is the effect on the solid case packs as our sponsors still show them available for pre-order. It looks like if you want Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker, getting singles might be your only bet going forward. Remember, Hasbro Toy Shop’s eBay store still has these available. (It’s unbelievable has disorganized this collection has been.)

If you’re sitting on the fence about securing The Black Series [Phase III] Ponda Baba figure, tunghori has only around 20 left. Don’t wait if you want it!

We have posted about this before, but just like many “just seen” inside jokes with close friends, this never gets old. So it’s worth looking at them time and again. Check out these terrible The Black Series (all scales) knockoff figures on eBay.

This is really nothing new, but WOW! It would do Hasbro good to re-release so many figures that were part of the Comic Packs line, especially those from the red phase of the Legacy Collection. They would make lovely additions to The Vintage Collection next Spring. Check out the prices for the Ulic Qel-Droma/Exar Kun two-pack on eBay!
