If you’re interested, the LEGO Shop has the UCS Millennium Falcon in stock! Special thanks to JTA reader Tony L. for the alert!
Nonstop Star Wars is never a good thing. We have been saying this since 2015. It seems to have ramifications now. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a hit, but the Force may not be as strong for Disney when it comes to merchandise sales this year. Panjiva, a data company that tracks the giant shipping containers that arrive at U.S. ports, says 6,587 of them with Star Wars gear were shipped in the seven months leading up to The Last Jedi, but that’s down 47 percent from the seven months leading to Rogue One in 2016 and off 56 percent from the same time period ahead of The Force Awakens in 2015. The Hollywood Reporter has the full story. (more….)

The Toy Run Podcast Facebook page has started a pretty interesting discussion about how collectors view LEGO versus Hasbro. The discussion is so good that I think it warrants bringing this out of social media and to the Star Wars fan site community where it belongs. Here are the thoughts and questions paraphrased:
LEGO collectors went crazy for the UCS Millennium Falcon. It sold out within a day or two and no one balked at the price. Likewise, there aren’t too many complaints about its size or the space it takes up. The only complaints seem to be that it’s sold out and there are still people who want to purchase it.
Then you take the Hasbro Star Wars action figure crowd of collectors. Hasbro finally gives us a HUGE FO Special Forces TIE Fighter for $169 in The Black Series 6″ line and it pretty much bombs at retail. It didn’t even sell out 2 years later (!) at $50 online this past Black Friday.
Why is a Lego collector willing to pay $800+ (and is happy about it) while a Hasbro Star Wars action figure collector doesn’t want to spend $170 for a big vehicle? It’s perplexing.
In our comments, please leave your own thoughts about this.
If you love Star Wars LEGO products, Amazon has put many of them on sale. It’s rare when LEGO goes on sale so be sure to check out what you might want to add to your collection!
Is this how the 40th anniversary celebration dies? With thunderous lackluster products? It’s hard to believe we’re already beyond the first week in November and that we’re just moments from reaching the holiday season once again. What’s more difficult to believe than this is what we received in the form of Star Wars merchandise to celebrate the monumental and once in a lifetime celebration of the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. LEGO has officially release images of their UCS (Ultimate Collectors Series) Millennium Falcon. It’s coming October 2017. Also, if you sign up for LEGO VIP Program (which is free), you’ll be able to order this beauty starting early on September 14th! You can sign up here.
When will Disney concede defeat with The Last Jedi product launch? When will they accept that the way they’re doing things doesn’t work? They’re truly stealing the joy away from new toys. Licensees have clearly been prompted to take action. Check out this YouTube video which the author claims LEGO is going after him now. We are unable to verify the validity of his claim, but it seems like quite a performance if there isn’t some smoke and fire here. Either way, we are TWO DAYS away. What’s the point of all of this nonsense?
It looks like The Last Jedi Lego sets have started showing up at Walmart in Canada. We can see a Resistance Bomber, BB-8, and the TIE Silencer in these images taken at a Montreal Walmart. Thanks to JTA reader Elie for the scoop!
