If you have avoided The Bad Batch thus far you should make an exception for the two-parter released today. Because what we get is not The Bad Batch, but more something in the best tradition of The Clone Wars, even featuring a new main character who was in several The Clone Wars episodes previously: Pantoran senator Riyo Chuchi, and she is actually awesome. She also gets help from none other than Bail Organa and Rex.
The Bad Batch clones only make an appearance in the second episode, but even then only in a subplot and the focus is still very much on things like the Imperial senate, political intrigue, senator Chuchi, the fate of the clone troopers, Admiral Rampart’s schemes and of course the Emperor himself, who is two or three steps ahead of everyone else. So yes, Palpatine makes an appearance in The Bad Batch and he is voiced by Ian McDiarmid. In short: this is actually worth your time and the episodes are about an important event! You don’t even need to have watched any The Bad Batch episodes, none of the previous episodes matter here really, other than the season 1 finale, which serves as the background, but the events of that are summarized here again, so you know what it’s all about: the destruction of Kamino and how the Empire covered it up.

It’s business as usual in The Bad Batch this week. Yet another oddjob for Cid takes the Bad Batch (without Hunter and Echo who are busy with some other inconsequential cargo transport mission for Cid) to the races this week. Cid owns a racer and needs to win money to pay off debts to an old rival. Now this is pod racing, again… But of course things go very wrong and the Bad Batch need to step in to save the day.
So let’s talk about this week’s The Bad Batch episode, just click here or on the banner to read my spoiler review!

This week’s The Bad Batch episode may actually be worth your time. The reason for that is that this week we get an episode without the regular Bad Batch and instead one that entirely focuses on Commander Cody and Crosshair. A former separatist planet really doesn’t want to be taken over by the Empire, so they take the appointed Imperial governor hostage and demand negotiations. Cody and his squad, with Crosshair in tow, are tasked with resolving the situation. What we get is an episode with some interesting insights into the clones who still serve under the Empire and of course we meet Cody again, who is one of the two main characters this week and pretty much the focus. So there are things to talk about! Click here or on the banner to read my spoiler review and let’s discuss “The Solitary Clone”!

2023 will be rich with Star Wars content, we will get four new and returning series this year. And the beginning makes The Bad Batch, we last saw Omega and the clones in August 2021, 16 months later the series returns with a two-parter, Spoils of War and Ruins of War in which the Bad Batch are tasked with retrieving (yes, they still do oddjobs for Cid of course) some of Count Dooku’s vast treasure, but of course the Empire is already gathering all the belongings of the dead Count which complicates things…
So is The Bad Batch worth your time? Read my spoiler review of the first two episodes to find out, just click here or on the banner below!

Season 2 of The Bad Batch is almost upon us, in exactly one week from now the first new episodes will drop. As part of the usual promotional campaign, Lucasfilm released two new character posters for Omega and Hunter on Twitter. Check them out below!
Are you excited for The Bad Batch season 2? It will be interesting to see if season 2 can crack the top 10 Nielsen charts. Only the first two episodes of season 1 – released only a few days apart – managed to do that, after that The Bad Batch failed to enter the charts. It will also be interesting to see if it’s actually a good idea to have the final season 2 episodes launch on the same day as The Mandalorian season 3 episodes for about a month. The Mandalorian will return in early March, The Bad Batch will end its season 2 on March 29th, which is one full month with two new Star Wars episodes each week. Will you tune in when The Bad Batch season 2 is released next week?

Lucasfilm just released the official season 2 trailer for The Bad Batch. The series returns on January 4th, before The Mandalorian is released in early March. The trailer features more of the same we saw in season 1, which means more Cid, more odd jobs, but there are also hints of bigger things like the involvement of Rex, Order 66 survivors and some dialogue snippets that hint at the clones slowly realizing that more needs to be done. Watch the trailer after the jump!
