If you’re a Star Wars collector, you know how this goes. You feel like you’re a yo-yo with how information is relayed and what the true status of the figures you actually want is. As you know, and some people feel we have harped on this for way too long already, is that 40th Anniversary wave 2 is and has been completely sold out since about the summertime. (In fact, it’s believed that this was the case even prior to 2017 SDCC – however, we can not wholly conclude that.) But there is great news ahead. Some of you saw our post last night before we were asked to pull it, but now we can share the details. (more….)
Update: More 40th Anniversary Collection is on the way… Stay tuned for more information!
Speaking of Brickseek, The Black Series [Star Wars 40] figures are coming up as low as $5 while still showing stock in quite a few areas. If you find these figures actually in stores for these low prices, please send us the proof! Special thanks to JTA reader Michael M. for the reminder.
It’s raining cancellations! In what is sure to be a devastating blow to collectors waiting in anticipation for The Black Series [Star Wars 40] Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2), some of our readers are receiving the dreaded email from Amazon that their long-delayed figures are ultimately being cancelled. Hasbro also stated in the Star Wars Action News article that Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) and Han Solo were two figures still coming, so this is definitely upsetting news. Click through to read the email going out to some collectors. Special thanks to JTA reader Matthew N. for sharing his experience with us.
Entertainment Earth has asked us to relay a little more information to our readers about The Black Series 6′ 40th Anniversary line. Please click through for more.
It has finally come to a head as we had predicted and advised you on for months now. Entertainment Earth is now officially sending out emails to their respective accounts noting that orders for wave 2 of the 40th anniversary line were cancelled because production has been discontinued. Click through for the complete wording of emails going out to accounts. We hope you already have your figures!
Hasbro Toy Shop’s eBay store has added new stock, but they have also placed many pieces of their current stock on significant discount. There are a ton of figures marked down to the $2 to $3 range and they even have some 6″ figure for less than $10 each. Check it out, you may find something you’re looking for and if you spend $14.99 it all ships for FREE!
You saw our friendly warning here months ago about about the 40th Anniversary The Black Series 6″ wave 2 figures; that they were completely sold out. Various interviews with Hasbro at SDCC this years allowed some to believe that they were shipping at that time, but we were cautious to not be eager about this news. But as you know, no units arrived at retail and many people’s pre-orders weren’t fulfilled and remain open or have been canceled. Now Hasbro answers Star Wars Action News’ question (from their HASCON interview) that they’ve all been shipped. Now, there could be some in transit somewhere, but it looks like these figures are finally all gone. We believe they’ve always been gone for months now (and actually have sources that confirmed this). If you need them, check eBay quickly because there is an even stronger chance now with this new confirmation that you’ll never see them again… unless Hasbro orders a new batch to be produced. As you can see from the listings, some figures go for obscene amounts.
How about one more set of deals right before Force Friday II? GameStop has some great The Black Series 6″ stuff on sale. 40th Anniversary Princess Leia Organa for under $8 and the Legacy Pack for $15.99. But you should probably click through and see what other deals there are as well! Special thanks to JTA reader Colton M. for the alert on the deals.
Entertainment Earth once again pushes out their anticipated arrival date of The Black Series [Star Wars 40] wave 2 figures. But this time you’ll have to wait SIX more months until February 2018. Wow, will anyone accept these are just sold out by now? Good news still exists however. With the proof that foreign orders (Europe/UK) will be fulfilled because of extra production, it’s probable Hasbro will do the same for its American collector base which is probably why these orders have been pushed out once again. But that’s just a guess. Whatever the case, we hope you’re all able to secure this great wave of figures at some point.
We all heard Design Director Steve Evans from Hasbro state that he has a good idea of what characters he would choose if Hasbro were to make an anniversary line of 6″ The Black Series figures for Episode V. If you haven’t, it’s from our Hasbro Q&A where we teamed up with Victoria’s Cantina for SDCC. Be sure to check it out. (more….)
3 Chewbaccas, 16 Jawas, and 44 Death Squad Commanders! This isn’t a third grade math problem or the start of a joke, this is what JTA reader Agustín came across while on business in Monterrey, Mexico in a store called Julio Cepeda. We share in Agustín’s concern of how Monterrey has this many in stock, meanwhile tons of Walmarts and TRU’s have only received 1, 2, or even ZERO cases. ¡Ay Caramba! Thanks again to Agustín for this report!
Today a friend of mine managed to find wave 1 of the 40th Anniversary at his local Toys R Us in Amherst, NY. He said the entire wave was there, but he only bought himself a Artoo-Detoo and a Han Solo. Are these still being found in their distribution centers or are these coming from somewhere else? Have you seen these pop up in your TRU recently? Thanks to JTA reader and friend Charlie for the info.
Wow! They’re history now, but an eBay seller from Italy had 11 SWCO TBS6 [SW40] Luke Skywalker (X-wing Pilot) figures for $49.99 each. You might want to stalk this eBay seller to see if anymore go up for auction again! Then again, you may NOT want to do that.
So, what’s the deal with The Black Series [Star Wars 40] wave 2? You heard Hasbro say wave 1 is basically done, but wave 2 is on the way now (from our SDCC Q&A). Much of this is 100% accurate, then again, we said the same thing as well also. What you may want to be reminded about is that for wave 1 solid case packs for Han Solo and Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) are still coming, so this first set of figures is not truly “done” from that perspective. But most collectors are much more concerned with wave 2, and rightfully so. (more….)
JTA reader Allen found a ton of 40th Anniversary Legacy Packs marked down at his local Walmart in Smithfield, RI. According to Allen, they are marked down to a mere $15! I know my local Walmarts have more than 20 of these each and they have yet to even mark them down at all. My Walmarts don’t have ANY of the Star Wars figures marked down yet…Which is strange. Have you found the Legacy Pack this cheap yet in your area? Let us know!
Still don’t believe The Black Series [Star Wars 40] 6″ line is out of production? We were waiting for the first store report to come in as we knew this was imminent from one of our sources. These 6″ figures are now being found on clearance at Walmart so they can prep for Force Friday II. Aside from some solid case packs via online, you can all stick a fork in this line. Special thanks to JTA reader Ben H. for sending us the first store report of this.
Just like our rumor report stated months ago, Han Solo and Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) from The Black Series [Star Wars 40] 6″ line are available as solid cases. JTA sponsor Big Bad Toy Store is now taking pre-orders for these figures.
We are honored to have teamed up with our good friend, the illustrious Victoria from Victoria’s Cantina, this year to conduct our Hasbro Q&A during San Diego Comic Con. We also entered the current century because the Q&A is in the form of a video. This time YOU get to see the wry smiles and illuminating expressions on the Hasbro Team’s faces. While we focused our efforts on learning as much as we could about The Vintage Collection, there is plenty of stuff here on The Black Series 6″ line and 5POA as well. Reissue older 6″ figures? Gray-haired Han Solo? Using 6″ to make SA 3.75″ and vice versa? Will there be more 40th anniversary love in TVC? Will there be 40th The Empire Strikes Back figures? What about the fate of playsets? You’ll get the answers to all of these questions and more, so be sure to check out what this beautiful bunch of people had to say by clicking the thumbnail below!
JTA has learned that retailers in Europe are being offered new opportunities to pre-order wave 2 of The Black Series [Star Wars 40] line. As you know, JTA alerted you to the news that all of the 40th anniversary figures were out of production. This new development may (or may not) bode well for American collectors. If there are enough requests for another run, perhaps we will see another run of these figures. Keep it here are we learn more. “Wave 2 will be back in production for October after a considerable reduction in the first shipment. And we would like to apologize for this back and forth from our suppliers….” Again, please keep in mind that this is what is happening for Europe at the moment, not the USA (yet).
If you still need to pick up a Luke, Leia, or Obi-Wan, Kmart has them for $16.99. If you haven’t already, you can sign up for Kmarts shoppers points and typically get $10 off of your order right away. That could be some good savings on those figures or the First Order 6″ TIE Fighter which is listed at $64.40. They have R2-D2 listed as in stock and you can add it to your cart, but it’s a cruel joke. It doesn’t let you check out. Don’t forget, free shipping on orders over $49
UPDATE: Figures are actually out of stock. As soon as you go to your cart there is an error message. Sorry for the false alarm, we’re just trying to help everyone out!
It’s hard to believe: so many collector have yet to see ANY 40th anniversary figures on the shelves while others are finding them for less than $4 a piece. It might be time to stalk your local TARGET. JTA reader Marcel E. found the 40th anniversary Princess Leia Organa for a mere $3.98. Insanity!
ToysRUs.ca has wave 2 IN STOCK again!. Be sure to grab your 40th Anniversary figures while you can. Special thanks to JTA Facebook reader Rich P. for the news!
