Back in the good old days of network TV ratings for shows were usually released the day after. Streaming makes things more complicated, the various streaming services usually keep ratings secret, but Nielsen does gather data here similar to the way they do it for regular network tv. However, it always takes a few weeks before the ratings are released and the ratings are no longer for individual episodes, but the entire series. Thus the ratings will also depend on how many episodes of a show are available. So it is only now, after episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett dropped earlier this week, that we know the ratings for the pilot episode. And The Book of Boba Fett had a promising debut, it was not the #1 show on Disney+, which was Hawkeye, but there is a caveat. As mentioned, The Book of Boba Fett only had one episode available, and Hawkeye six. How are the exact numbers and how do they compare to The Mandalorian? Click through for more!

The Book of Boba Fett takes a break this week and instead we get a full 50-minute episode of The Mandalorian season 3 several months early! Yay! Before anyone faints because of the spoiler: this week’s episode of The Book of Boba Fett is literally titled “Return of the Mandalorian” and last week’s episode even played his theme music in the last scene, so everyone should know what to expect for this week’s chapter. Now why we get a full-blown The Mandalorian episode in a show titled “The Book of Boba Fett” is another matter… something we need to discuss! We need to talk about the latest episode of The Book of Boba Fett. We REALLY need to talk about it! The inevitable (what many actually predicted) happened and while we will talk about the episode itself, which I found to be much improved, we need to talk about that one thing as well, you know what I mean. Spoiler: Boba survives the Sarlacc!

The Book of Boba Fett will be released in three days from now, with the first episode becoming available on December 29th. The various (teaser) trailers only show us scenes from the first few minutes of the first episode. In true Lucasfilm fashion everything about the show is top secret. A recent Hollywood Reporter article highlights this fact once more. Ming-Na Wen, who portrays Fennec Shand, didn’t even know what Disney hired her for when she was offered the role. At first she naturally assumed she would be filming season 3 of The Mandalorian, it was only when she arrived on set that she found out that she’s actually filming a brand new show.

Since we (officially) know so little about the series I thought it would be fun to speculate. What will happen in The Book of Boba Fett? What will it be about? Who will make an appearance in the series? What is the likelihood of a Rancor scene in The Book of Boba Fett that Hasbro never knew about and thus giving their failed HasLab the worst timing possible?
