The Mandalorian was certainly a very toyetic series. Now that the season finale is behind us it is time to look at what figures and vehicles Hasbro could make to make collectors happy! Jon Favreau tweeted the following a few hours ago, the Mandalorian will return Fall 2020! And then he goes on and teases the return of yet another classic Star Wars alien.

The Mandalorian season finale has everything! Humor, fan service galore, action, emotional moments, fun – watch it as soon as you can! In chapter 8 our heroes are still trapped inside the building with Moff Gideon and his Imperial Remnants waiting outside, they still want Baby Yoda. And the heroes must find a way to escape! One day late the latest Mandalorian spoiler review is now online! This episode was just brilliant. If you’ve been holding off on grabbing the Mystery Box or couldn’t find it on the shelves alone, the Black Series 6″ Target Exclusive First Order Elite Snowtrooper is now in stock online! And Target is also doing their “spend $50 save $10 or spend $100 and save $25” deal right now, so it’s a good time to grab some of your missing items from Target (and yes, all of The Child pre-orders count for this deal).

I had a pretty good week when it comes to collecting. I took a trip an hour south to Tucson, AZ, and went to a wonderful swap meet. Some of my favorite vendors had vamoosed, unfortunately, but there were still a couple toy vendors with decent Star Wars merchandise. I also watched A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, which marks the first time my son has gotten to watch the original trilogy (although he’s 2 so he ran around for a lot of it and went to be 3/4ths of the way through each movie, but boy did he like R2-D2!). Chapter 5 of The Mandalorian takes the hero and Baby Yoda to Tatooine (we knew that from the posters and various trailers already). I thought it would be fun to compare The Mandalorian’s Tatooine with what we saw in A New Hope. I also take a look at color grading and what has changed here since 1977. So click through for a few comparisons and to see how faitfhfully the show managed to recreate the planet. Very mild spoilers may apply, so people who don’t like even the mildest of spoilers (basically, just set pieces from the first 5 minutes or so from the show) should only click through once they have seen the episode! This week’s The Mandalorian episode takes us back to one of the most famous Star Wars locations of all time! After a space battle with a bounty hunter the Razor Crest needs repairs. So the Mandalorian flies to a nearby planet that we first saw all those years ago, back in 1977, when it all began… Click through to read my spoiler review of the episode and share your thoughts!

Mattel will release a “Baby Yoda” plush doll with vinyl head on June 1st 2020. Price will be $24.99. The toy looks just as adorable as the character. And in my opinion this Mattel “Baby Yoda” is superior to the very stylized Funko Pop version – and even cheaper.
However, all of that raises the question if the fact that Mattel is making “Baby Yoda” could be a sign of things to come.
A quick reminder: the Hasbro Star Wars license expires in late 2020. And we’ve had no news at all regarding a license renewal or extension, which is highly unusual, because previously these extensions were announced years in advance.
That being said, it’s not unusual that various other companies are making Star Wars plush dolls. Porgs were made by a number of companies, for example. So it may well be that Hasbro has an electronic “Baby Yoda” toy in the works that can move and make sounds, just like the electronic Porg made by them. It’s therefore not about the fact that Hasbro has no exclusive license to make Star Wars plush toys. But that Mattel is making “Baby Yoda” is certainly interesting, because they didn’t make any plush Porgs back in 2017. So maybe Mattel wants a bigger slice of the Star Wars merchandise pie. And perhaps they want even more.

This was inevitable. Fans have been asking for Baby Yoda merchandise ever since the first episode of The Mandalorian was released. And as usual, Funko will be the first to release something, it seems. Funko themselves posted a teaser on their Twitter, but a photo of the actual toy also leaked on Instagram. A Reddit user posted a screenshot of several entries in Target’s database showing two different Baby Yodas: a 10 inch and most likely a regular 6 inch version which both look the same. Price is $29.99 and $8.99 respectively. Expect Baby Yoda early in 2020. Now we wonder when Hasbro and/or Disney will release something, either an action figure with a Baby Yoda accessory or a lifesize doll. Will you get the Funko Pop version?

Ugh! After waiting almost TWO MONTHS for it, TARGET sends JTA reader Chris G. a notice that they’re canceling his long-awaited The Mandalorian (Carbonized) figures!

Forbes published an article the other day about the findings of Parrot Analytics, a leading data research company for TV and streaming. And they compared demand for The Mandalorian 7 days after its debut with other genre shows 7 days after they were launched. And the clear winner is The Mandalorian! Click through for some numbers!

The third Mandalorian episode “The Sin” is another great one! This is what fans have been waiting for! It has intense action, epic shootouts, Mandalorians galore, drama and of course a certain spoilery something that the world is madly in love with and you will love it even more after this episode. In short: go watch it! And then discuss the episode! The spoiler heavy review is waiting for you!

A metal knob can be very significant

Many fans wondered why there is no merchandise for one of the breakout characters from the Mandalorian. Of course I am talking about the cutest infant ever seen in Star Wars. Now Variety has an article on their website saying that Jon Favreau is actually the one to “blame” here, he specifically asked Disney to withhold merchandise for Baby Yoda so that viewers would not be spoiled. Now while most of the world still cannot watch the show legally, the cat is out of the bag. Not only do mainstream newssites (even here in Germany where the show won’t be available before April 1st 2020!) report about Baby Yoda, the official Star Wars twitter posted a photo. So the character can hardly be considered a spoiler anymore. Which is why merchandise can finally hit stores. But I digress, fans of the show and the character can be happy that merchandise will hit stores before Christmas.
