Review: Incinerator Trooper - TVC - VC177 [Walmart Exclusive]

Meh. Some will really like the Incinerator Trooper from The Vintage Collection. But we had higher hopes for it. Maybe it’s because we can’t find this figure anywhere that we cannot fully appreciate or enjoy it? (more….)

The Amazon exclusive The Black Series [Phase IV] Speeder Bike/Scout Trooper & The Child is pretty nice in some regards, but a disappointment in others. Is it worth $49.99? (No.) Did we need this set to complete an important scene from The Mandalorian? (Yes.) (more….)

Are you tired of proving your worth to Hasbro, 3.75″ collectors? How is it that we literally “kill” it for The Khetanna and then only get two all-new action figures to populate it? And then we all step up to the plate HUGELY once again for the Razor Crest, only to see Hasbro asleep at the wheel. Why aren’t they banging out 3.75″ action figures for us after that major campaign success? They owe it to us to make us new characters from The Mandalorian for The Vintage Collection. And after two years, how is it that we don’t have some core and behind the scenes characters from The Mandalorian yet? (Would you announce Kuiil already?) While Hasbro is obsessively reusing parts from their older 6″ figures, they’re doing next to nothing to utilize older 3.75″ super-articulated figures that could be revitalized to bring us new characters from The Mandalorian. Oh, and yes, we deserve some all-new tooling as well. (more….)

Review: Kuiil - TBS6 [P4] - TM07

The latest wave of The Black Series [Phase IV] figures are hitting, and we are taking a close look at Kuiil. It’s one of Hasbro’s finest figures of the year. It’s also the 6″ line’s first Ugnaught figure. (more….)

The Amazon exclusive The Black Series [Phase IV] Speeder Bike/Scout Trooper & The Child recreates an important scene from The Mandalorian. But are the figures that great inside of it? We’re not so sure. Check out a very rough gallery now, and the review is coming soon. The Child figure is a misnomer here. It’s an accessory. See our sneak peek by clicking through!

The TARGET exclusive The Black Series [Phase IV] Remnant Stormtrooper is arriving. Our first question is why is this figure exclusive? How can anyone army-build this? Why aren’t solid case packs available for it? It seems impractical to keep releasing so many 6″ figures from The Mandalorian when there are no vehicles or world-building possible with them. But what do we know? See our sneak peek by clicking through!

I found an article on Polygon today that is humorous in part. While summarizing the new offerings from Hasbro based on The Mandalorian, they reference The Vintage Collection in a funny way. They describe it as “There’s also a sort of junior version of the Black Series called the Vintage Collection, which brings a greater level of detail and articulation to the traditional 3.75-inch scale, at merely 150% of the cost.” It’s almost as if the writer doesn’t understand the history of Star Wars action figures. Then to confuse things, they go on to describe the Retro Collection. Isn’t that the traditional 3.75″ format? Is this a chicken-or-the-egg scenario? Also of interest, the original title of the article was “Star Wars toys and Mandalorian figures aren’t really for kids anymore” which probably put Hasbro in a panic, and they since changed it to “Star Wars toys keep changing, and leaving kids behind.” We’re not sure why that was changed. Anyhow, The Black Series line exists BECAUSE of the traditional 3.75″ scale and The Vintage Collection. It’s not the other way around. Check out the article for yourself. TVC IG-11 Giveaway from John Morog Customs

Some of you may know that I run a custom figure page on Facebook called John Morog Customs. I post a lot of my custom work on Toy Run Tuesdays here, but don’t advertise my page much since I don’t want to lead our readers away from the site. That being said, I wanted to inform JTA readers that I am running a giveaway on Facebook for anyone interested. This year was a tough one for everybody, and I have been very grateful to our readers and staff for the discussions we have that kind of pull us out of this crazy world for a little while. It may be small, but I wanted to do something to give back to the community! Click through for more info.

Review: The Mandalorain [Beskar Armor] - TVC - VC181

The Vintage Collection’s The Mandalorian [Beskar Armor] figure is another delightful release in the lineup. It’s not perfect, but you’re probably not going to care. Review: Moff Gideon - TVC - VC180

Holy cow! The Vintage Collection Moff Gideon might be the best-looking human 3.75″ Star Wars action figure of 2020. One thing is for certain. You’re going to need lots of Imperial Death Troopers to go alongside this one. Hasbro should get ceaseless praise for this release. You’re going to love it! It looks exactly like Giancarlo Esposito. How much do The Black Series [Phase IV] 6″ figures have to be before collectors revolt? It feels like we’re getting close. The Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) & The Child TARGET exclusive is very nice, but it’s not $35 nice! All the newness here is worth considering! (more….)
